On May 31, an event dedicated to mourning for citizens and the memory of political victims was held.                                       

 For a moment, they silently remembered those who died from the consequences of political repression.                                                                                   During the event, the naib imam of the city of Ekibastuz, Kairolla Abildabek, the cleric of the Iversko-Serafimovsky Cathedral, Dimitri Minakov, an activist of the Polish association "Polonia", a descendant of the repressed Yasinsky Anton Iosifovich, spoke. Then the townspeople took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument.
