The draft of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been published

The Constitutional Reform Commission has submitted a draft of a new version of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The document was prepared based on the results of a large-scale public discussion: proposals from citizens, parties, NGOs and experts were taken into account - more than 2 thousand initiatives in total.

This will change dramatically:

• Human rights and freedoms were declared the main priority of the State in the preamble.
• Sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity are fixed as unchangeable values.

 For the first time, the Constitution enshrines the principles of justice, law and order, and respect for nature. Education, science, culture and innovation were identified as the foundation of the country's future, with special attention being paid to human capital. A norm on the protection of citizens' rights in the digital environment has been introduced.

New institutions and norms:
Unicameral Parliament -Kurultai (145 deputies, proportional system, term — 5 years).
The national advisory body of Kazakhstan on the right of legislative initiative.
Institute of the Vice President.
A separate article on advocacy, strengthening guarantees of citizens' rights, and the approval of the "Miranda rules."
In total, the project includes 77 articles (84% of the existing text). A new version of the Constitution is proposed, consisting of 11 parts and 95 articles.

The final decision will be made by citizens in a national referendum.
